The importance of reading cannot be underestimated, as reading stretches the child’s mind and introduces him/her to the a world of wonder that is literature. Keeping this in mind, students were asked  to find tales of their interest and read them out to the audience. Choosing and preparing a short story  to read, motivated the students to actively explore literature from this part of the world. Furthermore, the competition encouraged students to practice pronunciation and listen to others. They read out their stories with clarity, correct accentuation and voice modulation. The students realized that the stories offered many facets, that of suspense, entertainment and information and the students were filled with a new curiosity.
