Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26, to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the war.

On this day in 1999, the Indian Army declared "Operation Vijay" a success, declaring victory after a nearly three-month battle on the icy heights of Kargil in Ladakh.
