Our young students of grade Prep hosted a special assembly on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The presentation began with the shloka ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya’ followed by a short informative skit explaining the reason why Ganesha came to have the head of an elephant. Presidians conveyed the symbolic meaning of the elephant - strength, wisdom and longevity. The performance also highlighted the jubilations and festivities during this ten day festival commencing from Ganpati ‘Sthapana’ to ‘Visarjan’. The students spread the message of not using plaster of paris idols and urged everyone to use papier-mache, brass, copper or clay idols and opt for a symbolic immersion in buckets/tanks. They sensitized the assembly about using natural colours, flowers and lentils for decoration.
