We all travel from one place to another. By nature, children are keen observers and hence ask a lot of questions related to the places they visit. Bringing students’ observations into the curriculum helps them feel included and connected. So, under the theme ‘Travel’ students of grade 2 built upon their previous knowledge and established a clear connection between what they have observed and the new concepts and skills they are learning. They learned about the factors that contribute to the selection of means of travel. The cost of tickets, facilities offered, distance covered and time taken to cover that distance are the factors that influence the choice of a means and mode of travel. Students also played a Board game related to theme ‘Travel’ They thoroughly enjoyed while playing this game and it gave them an opportunity to have a hands on experience related to travel including the monetary transactions. It proved to be a fun filled learning activity for students.
