PRESIDIUM'S FACULTY ATTENDS NATIONAL LIFE SKILLS AND WELLNESS PROGRAMME
15-07-2015
Presidium’s faculty from Gurgaon Senior attended an informative program organized by Expressions India on ‘National Life Skills, Values Education and Wellness’. It was held on 15 July 2015 at Moolchand Medicity.
Dr Jitendra Nagpal, Program Director, Expressions India, addressed the audience and said that, “the need of the hour is to connect with the students. Connectivity is the hallmark of teachers' relation with the students. Teachers' behaviour impacts the students for the entire life. In today's scenario, when India is grappling with life style disorders, cyber addiction, junk food addiction, role of a teacher as a counsellor has become crucial.”
The chief guest, Ms Nidhi Sirohi shared some valuable inputs from her own personal experiences. In her opinion, there is a need to sensitize teachers about the various issues and problems of the students. A good rapport between a teacher and a student helps the student to confide in a teacher.
Dr. Ruchika, a Clinical Psychologist explained the importance of appropriate body language and careful choice of words while dealing with children with problems.
Dr Pooja conducted an activity wherein all the participants were divided into groups and asked to list common emotional, behavioural and learning problems in children. The activity was followed by a very interactive discussion about the solution to these problems.
Senior Psychologist, Saima Nafis Khan discussed the adolescent’s mental health scenario in India. The session was winded up by Dr.Ruchika who discussed a few case studies, suggestions and remedial actions to be taken up by a teacher.
It was a great opportunity for our faculty members to gain an insight into the relationship between a teacher and student and the importance of dealing with children’s problems.
