An enriching and informative workshop on ‘Teaching-Learning Processes’ was conducted by Mr. Palety, Chief Executive of C Fore, a multidisciplinary research organisation which specializes in election surveys, market research, opinion polls and performance appraisal of educational institutions. In the workshop, Mr. Palety talked about the importance of creativity in the field of education with the teachers of Presidium. It was established that working upon the creative faculty of children can lead to academic excellence. Emphasis was also laid on innovative teaching methods, such as ‘Team Learning’, ‘Collaborative Learning’ and various other practices being followed across the globe in the field of education. The positive relation between creativity and academic achievement is a significant lesson for the education fraternity and an important guiding light for developing teaching methodologies for new age India.

“If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten."RUDYARD KIPLING. Following the same belief, students from Grade VII and VIII, were taken on an enrichng ‘Itihaas walk’ as a part of their PBL curriculum. The walk was organised by the ITIHAAS group, to observe and explore the epitomes of Mughal architecture in the capital—The Qutub Minar and Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah. At the walk, the students were enlightened about the famous world heritage sites and were left absolutely bedazzled listening to the adventurous stories about the different rulers of that era and their contribution to the impeccable historical monuments of India. The students not just had a wonderful time listening to the stories during the walk but they also participated in fun exercises like measuring the height of the Alai Darwaza and the circumference of the Iron pillar at the Qutub Minar premises. It was indeed an enriching and knowledgeable experience for the students who learnt the magnificence of Indian history and culture.

Experiential learning always lead to a better understanding of concepts. With this thought practical demonstrations were conducted to help the students at Presidium, learn about the presence of nutrients in food. Middle school students conducted various experiments to test the presence of starch, proteins and fats in some given food items. They learnt about how different food tests are done to identify these nutrients. For e.g.-to test the presence of protein in food, copper sulphate and caustic soda should be added to the food solution and if it turns violet, presence of protein is confirmed. The experiments made the entire concept logical, simpler and interesting for the students to understand, learn and remember.

The major and much-awaited event of the year, THE CHAIRPERSON HONOURS (April 2016 Meet) was held at Gurgaon on 28th April, with great aplomb. At the grand ceremony our Hon’ble Chairperson, Mrs. Sudha Gupta, felicitates the young leaders of tomorrow for their extraordinary achievements in various fields including Academics, Sports and Co-curricular activities. More than 350 students will be felicitated in this April-May meet. Till now the ceremony has proved to be a heart warming and exhilarating experience for the parents as they witnessed their wards being acknowledged for their hard work and achievements.

A promising batch of young Presidians from Gurgaon, visited Sparsh on 22 April. The students were taken around the school to familiarise them with the functioning of the school. While touring the school they saw the various facilities available at the school like Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, the Computer Lab facility, the Dance and Projector rooms etc. The students also visited the Handloom manufacturing unit where they were shown the wide range of products made there. The students also interacted with the special children. While interacting with them they realised the extraordinary efforts that the special children put in while doing their everyday chores. Their hearts were filled with gratitude and respect towards them when they saw the struggles that the special children go through every day. The students were touched by the purity and solace of the school which also made them realize the need take more such social initiatives to be able to contribute towards humanity in every way possible.

In a mesmerising three day Theatre fest called “Nino’s Expresivos” Presidians gave a stupendous performance on the theme Arabian Nights.The event was held at Presidium, Gurgaon from 11 to 13 March. Presidians from Grades Ist, IInd, and IIIrd from Presidium, Gurgaon performed in the event. The event was blessed with the presence of the Hon’ble Chairperson Mrs. Sudha Gupta and distinguished dignitaries. The event showcased beautiful and engaging theatrical skills of our budding superstars.They enacted the famous story of “Ali Baba aur Chaalis Chor” from the legends of Arabian Nights and engaged the audience throughout the event. The thunderous applause and cheers from the audience motivated our star performers even more. The Chairperson addressed the performers with her inspiring words and applauded them for bringing the adventure of Arabian Nights alive on stage. The dignitaries also praised each performance. They encouraged students and staff to organise more such events to bring out the talent in children and give them the much needed exposure. The three day event was a wonderful spectacle of sheer talent and creativity of our young performers.

In yet another proud moment for our Academic Leadership, our esteemed faculty member, Sri Vishal Sagar, PGT Political Science, from Presidium Gurgaon Senior, presented a research paper which has been awarded with the ‘Best Paper of the Conference’ at the ‘UNITED NATIONS @70’ conference. The event was organized by Amity Law School-II, on 4th and 5th February, in collaboration with the Indian Society of International Law at Amity Campus, Noida. It was judged by the distinguished panel including famous personalities like Dr. Narender Singh, Member, International Law Commission; Prof. CSR Murthy, JNU; Prof. SK Verma, Chairperson, International Society of International Law; and Dr. Devyani Khobragade, IFS.
